Talk:Business cards

The SVG source of the various designs will be available soon. Where shall we host them? On the wiki? Or on a code-versioning system? z) chat/chase 21:13, 13 May 2014 (EEST)

Panos' initial design[edit]

A first design by Panos.

I like the general layout, the splash on the back around the logo and the clean looks. Some comments: 1) We should change to use free fonts I think. 2) I'm not sure why we use 90% gray for the name and the 'black' line and resistor. I'm afraid it will just look like a bad-contrast print in the end. But then again maybe it'll look better than full black? What do you think? z) chat/chase 21:13, 13 May 2014 (EEST)

User: page QRcode[edit]

Added QRcode with link to User: page.

One idea could be to use QRcode to give a link to the User: page on this wiki. To embed the full contact info into the QRcode makes the squares to many and too small. In this example I even used url-shortining (ur1.ca/...) to minimize the QRcode. Of course then the person should have a meaningful User: page and not a red link. Also I think it would be nicer to have the logo in the 'focus' of the 'polygon-splash'. So either move logo left and the QRcode right, or change the 'splash' to 'focus' on the right side. z) chat/chase 21:13, 13 May 2014 (EEST)

Fingerprint QRcode[edit]

Added QRcode PGP fingerprint.

I had also the idea to use QRcode to encode the OpenPGP fingerprint, so when you give your card the receiver can automatically check/trust/sign your OpenPGP key. Not sure if it's easier to read the fingerprint in text form or as QRcode. I guess it only makes sense, if there's an app that detects it as fingerprint (PGP:Ox... +40hex digits) and imports the key with the correct fingerprint from pgp.mit.edu, then displays the IDs+emails of the key and asks you if you want to trust/sign this person/key. That would be quite useful! z) chat/chase 21:13, 13 May 2014 (EEST)
