Improve clarity of the front page[edit]

Please add your suggestions here! --193.92.240.142 02:18, 9 June 2012 (EEST)

  • Remove Material & Infrastructure categories from the front page & add projects, so as to have these 3. Workshops, Projects, Meetings.
  • Change the left sidebar. Remove the wiki & toolbox menus. Update the Labaki menu with always expanded submenus to include:
    • Projects
    • Workshops
    • Events
    • Contact
    • About

The contact and location pages could become one.

I created the Projects page and have included already some...

I've done most of the above changes (except the ones that require theme change) and categorized most of the content. The problem now is that there is no way for the user to access certain information that is useful. I would like to have visible access to the following content:

And there is also the less useful Category:Sysadmin, which we could also make visible, but we could also keep it hidden in the belief that sysadmins already know its existence.

A problem I observed is that with the new layout there is nothing linking to Initrd. I was thinking that perhaps a better text & layout for the "about" page could help to include this content in there too.

Include a facebook, twitter, youtube icons for labaki on the bottom of the front page. These accounts need to be created.

From a few searches there seem to be many ways in order to have same look & feel across wordpress & mediawiki...

MediaWiki RSS feed import[edit]

Hi!

I looked into the possibility to import RSS feeds into MediaWiki pages... EASY: RSS extension

I can take care of the WikiFormatting to make it integrate nicely into the frontpage, if necessary. ~ z☽ chat/chase 18:56, 29 June 2012 (EEST)
